Climatronics Announces the Commercial Availability of the latest FAA certified
Low Level Windshear Alert System

(Bohemia, NY…) Climatronics Corporation announces the commercial availability of its Low Level Windshear Alert System – Relocation and Sustainment (LLWAS-RS) system. Initially built for the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to replace its aging LLWAS Phase II system with a system designed to operate and be sustainable for a 20-year service life, the LLWAS-RS uses the latest windshear detection algorithms developed by the University Center for Atmospheric Research (UCAR).

LLWAS-RS also features a state of the art no-moving part sonic anemometer and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, for elements like computers and radios, selected for cost effectivity and system maintenance sustainment. It will be configured to flexibly operate with seven to thirty-two wind sensors depending on airport size, number of runways and runway orientation.
