To support the NASA Space Shuttle program, the existing Edwards Geophysical Analysis Display System (EGADS) meteorological network at Edwards Air Force Base (originally designed and installed by Climatronics in 1987) has been up-graded by Climatronics several times over its many years of trouble free operation (Contract Nos. F04700-92-F4226, F04700-91-F8720, F04700-90-F0167 and F42650-01-C-7218). We continue to expand the network with additional permanent, as well as portable (trailer mounted), remote stations (currently 21), and enhanced base station software. A high speed, direct communications link between the base station computer and NASA Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston, Texas is also part of the system. The latest data telemetry hardware and software upgrade has resulted in increased system data collection efficiency, which now allows high-resolution, real time data collection during special events. Climatronics also recently redesigned and installed an improved version of the USAF Rocket Lab surface weather network, also located at Edwards AFB. The system includes multiple stations with different height towers, instrumented at several levels with Climatronics1 new "Sonimometer" sonic wind sensor as well as temperature and humidity sensors. Climatronics "ROCNET" data acquisition and display software provides real-time data telemetry and a number of graphic data displays screens for the system operators.
Climatronics is a leading manufacturer of weather sensors and systems specializing in turn-key system integration and custom application. We supply and service our equipment worldwide and maintain a complete factory calibration facility at our corporate headquarters on Long Island, NY.
